Factory Profit Optimizer Resources

Resources are entities in a process that perform value added work. You can create two types of resources, workers and equipment.

Worker

worker

Create a worker resource to define a manual labor process step.

When you add or double-click on a worker, you get an option dialog where you can set different parameters.

worker options

Name: Define a unique name for this resource.

Hourly Salary: Hourly employment costs for one worker. It should include salary, benefits, etc…

Availability: Set the percentage of time a worker is available for direct work. It should include everything that prevents a worker from performing value added tasks such as breaks, meetings, set-up time, etc…

Number available: List the number of worker available to do the same task in parallel.

Equipment

equipment

Create a equipment resource when you want to define an automated or semi-automated process step. You do not need to add a worker if this equipment requires an operator. Just add the operator variable costs such as salary to the equipment variable costs.

When you add or double-click on an equipment, you get an option dialog where you can set different parameters.

equipment options

Name: Define a unique name for this resource.

Variables costs (Hourly): Add all the variable costs required to operate the equipment for a period of 1 hour such as operator salary, energy consumption, cost of reworks associated by non-quality for this equipment, etc… If an operator is sharing his time between multiple equipment, divide his salary accordingly.

Availability: Set the percentage of time an equipment is available for direct work. It should include everything that prevents an equipment from performing value added tasks such as maintenance, set-up time, etc…

Number available: List the number of equipment available to do the same task in parallel.
